There is no need to spend billions or create huge marketing campaigns or political parties. We tackle the problem at the root, not with big theories or dogmas, but with practical, useful services, applications, and free-to-use functionalities on digital platforms accessible to anyone for free and immediately for our members.

We still have developed the boring theories and philosophies, but we totally understand if you are not interested! Just jump directly to the Toolbox of Practical Solutions, and we won’t tell anybody.

For those interested in a deep dive into the DNA of Resilient Economy and why we think it is more resilient and sustainable, here are some thoughts:

Resilient Economy

Resilient Economy is part of the foundation triangle of any civilization:

Economy – Governance – Data

A modern and more elegant way to call: Money, Power, Knowledge. These three principles work together, and none can exist on its own. We have written about decision-making and governance, which is the power part and the importance of sovereignty of data does not need any more explication, latest after the revelations around Facebook/Cambridge Analytics.

When we combine the principles of sustainability, decentralized and autonomous with the economy, we achieve Resilient Economy.

King Rama IX and the Social Enterprise of Thailand

King Rama lX of Thailand, who fathered the concept of Sufficient Economy in the early 20th century, laid the foundation of a sustainable economy, bringing slow but steady development to the many.

The visionary King also created the legal framework of Social Enterprise, which is a company that reinvests profits in the next development project of the society, instead of paying out dividend to shareholders.

The Social Enterprise is different from a charity because it is auto financing the current and future operations.

It is different from a classic profit-oriented enterprise because the investors or shareholders cannot expect taking out profits for themselves. It is though a profit-oriented business, just the destination of the profit is aimed at social development.

Under Thailand jurisdiction, a Social Enterprise (SE) benefits from a special tax status in return of the social engagement, exemption from VAT, Special Business Tax, Social Contribution for employees, and a few more perks. But the important aspect is the exemption of financial regulation: The SE does not need licenses from the Bank of Thailand for operating financial operations, banking, exchange, transfer, investment, etc., as long it is within the proper ecosystem.

The Concept of Resilient Economy

Having all these fantastic technologies of the 21st century, Web3, Blockchain, cloud, data processing, AI, makes a new economy possible: an Resilient Economy.

We see it as the middle way of existing conflicting and competing systems, favoring networking instead of concentration of power and money. The next step in economy could be based on a combination of autonomous, decentralized, digital, agile, auditable, non-speculative, non-capitalist, non-socialist.

Did Buckminster Fuller not say: “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”?

We believe that we don’t need to fight any prevailing current system, they auto-destroy. The interests of the existing systems are conflicting, and they are competing, creating entropy instead of development.

All we need to do is to build a system that does not ignore entropy and is built on sustainable principles. The success of such is system is assured by its nature, the respect of the laws of Thermodynamics, Evolutionary Biology, and the research of Harmony and Peace at its heart.

Let’s take the best of capitalism and socialism, skip the failing parts, and do what corporations, governments, or the United Nations will never do: create a global autonomous network of people, entrepreneurs, and organizations, and take things into our hands.

It can succeed if everyone has an immediate advantage of using it, and it has to be free, or almost.

Sounds Utopia? It is, and it is not: because we have the tools and a plan. Continue reading, it’s coming.

What is Resilience?

What is permanent? Change!

Resilience is defined as the ability of a system to withstand changes in its environment and still function. We would like to add: to thrive in change. A resilient system has a specific intelligence, converting challenges into opportunities. How can we achieve such agility? How can we make big or even global systems manageable and sustainable?

The Challenges of the Territorial Systems, the UN

Have you heard of the United Nations? It is an organization with a budget of 3.4 billion USD (2023) for 8.1 billion inhabitants of the earth. That is 0.42 USD per capita. Sounds not like the UN could do much, with less than ½ USD per person… It is not enough money to print a flyer to explain what they can’t do. Why is that so? Because it is the United NATIONS. Nations compete with each other and will never join forces to tackle global issues. They are busy making their national, more or less corrupt business, print money endlessly to pay their ever-growing debts, and are useless to global resilient and sustainable development. The good thing about such systems is that they auto-destroy.

If we want to have a global impact, we must go different ways.

What can we learn from roughly 100 years of UN successful hypocrisy and carefully avoided action? We need to take things into our own hands!

A new type of extra-territorial organization is needed, fostering efficient governance and financial management. We are lucky to have fast and reliable communication technology and low-cost solutions in our twenty-third-century toolbox.

But a few more details about Resilient Economy, before we jump to solutions: Out of our experience and work in global programs, we created and successfully implemented the framework of Augmented Leadership, which contains governance principles to achieve decentralized Human Swarm Intelligence and other extremely efficient ways to work together in scalable complex organizations.

Resilient Economy Principles, out of Augmented Leadership

The principles of an Augmented Economy are similar to those of Augmented Governance or Leadership: decentralization, autonomy, agility, and competency-based governance.

Economic Decentralization

Decentralization refers to the process by which the activities of an organization, particularly those regarding decision-making, are distributed or delegated away from a central, authoritative jurisdiction or legal entity.

Transfer of authority for economic decision-making and financial responsibility to subnational levels of government or non-governmental sectors. From a technology point-of-view, the Blockchain or DAG (Directed Acyclic Graph) protocols are decentralized. From an organization’s perspective, a network of cooperatives is decentralized, while connected in federations. We are using low-cost digital technology to realize operational decentralized connectivity.

Economic Autonomy

In a Resilient Economy, the actors operate or act independently, without external control or intervention of governments or banks. The organization is a “Decentralized Autonomous Organization” (DAO), by rules determined by internal governance, not controlled by majority shareholders or by a central government.

When used together, “decentralized and autonomous” often describe systems or entities that operate without a central authority and can function independently of external control. This combination has powerful implications for transparency, resilience, sustainability, and control. While these new forms of governance still need to be matured, with the principles of scaled agile governance and Augmented Leadership they have proven themselves over decades in some of the hugest programs in the industrial world. Here again, cost-efficient digital platforms do a great job in enabling autonomous organizations.

Competency-based Economy

From Augmented Leadership, we remember that competency and governance must work together. The same applies to the economy. In a Resilient Economy, governance includes rules of consultation of minority stakeholders and experts. Incompetent leaders are ok, as long as they proof humble enough to be conscious about their limits. In decentralized organizations, incompetence shows up quickly. We love the Holacracy model for that.

Agility-based Economy

The other important feature we remember from Augmented Leadership, is agility, decision-making, and developing in iterations. Economic decisions need to be fact-based and frequently adjusted. In the current political systems, observing long cycles, election date driven is frequent. Using scaled agility can bring higher efficiency, with frequent reality checks, using metrics and real-time dashboards. Does anyone remember the spectacular failure of the 5-year Soviet planning cycles? It was transparent, though. In our current capitalistic system, the planning cycles may have improved, but the governance is mostly opaque and often lobby-based.

Overview of the Resilient Economy Framework Without wasting more time explaining why the current economy will not prevail, let us see what solutions we can bring to make it resilient, sustainable, and fit for the future of our kids. After years of research, we came up with some surprisingly simple solution proposals, low-cost, easy to […]

[69

post-1608","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-resilient-economy
["GET
